A complete, step-by-step walkthrough of Y-Mart for every account type.
You can browse and search without an account, but you'll need one to buy. Register and choose "Buyer", then check your inbox and click the verification link we send you.
Search any product by name. Results show every store selling it side by side — sort by best price, highest rated or newest, and filter by category, price range, verified-only, condition or delivery province. Tap "Why this result?" on any listing to see exactly why it ranked where it did.
Open a product to see its condition, stock level and how recently the seller confirmed the listing. Visit the store's page to see its verification badge, tier (Verified / Premium / Top Rated), real buyer reviews, and the seller's own "meet the seller" note. Not sure about something? Use Ask a question on the product or store page — no order required, and the seller gets your question by email with your address as reply-to.
Tap the heart icon to add a product to your wishlist. If the price drops afterwards, we'll email you — and the wishlist page shows a "Price drop!" badge with the old and new price.
Each store has its own cart — you can't mix products from different stores in one checkout. At checkout, start typing your address and pick a suggestion from the dropdown; we automatically work out your delivery province from it, so there's no manual province field to get wrong. Choose one of the store's accepted payment methods (including PayFast, if offered) and add any delivery notes.
Follow progress from My orders — placed, confirmed, processing, shipped, delivered. Once a seller ships your order with a courier assigned, you'll see who's handling it and when it was collected. Message the seller directly from the order page (with a WhatsApp option if they've added a phone number) — unread replies show a badge in the nav.
You can cancel an order yourself while it's still pending or confirmed — stock is automatically restored to the seller. If an order has already shipped and something's gone wrong, use Report an issue on the order page to file a dispute — it notifies the seller and Y-Mart support, and you can track its status under My inquiries.
Once an order is marked delivered, Leave a review appears on the order page — a star rating and an optional comment. It updates that store's public rating immediately, for real, from real buyers.
From your profile you can update your email or phone, change your password, and turn on two-factor authentication for extra protection. We'll also email you automatically if we ever see a login from a device we haven't seen before.
Register and choose "Seller" — you'll be taken straight into store registration afterwards, and we'll email you a verification link in the background.
A short wizard: business details (store name, CIPC number, city, province) → bank details (encrypted before they're ever stored) → the payment methods you accept → which areas you deliver to → a final review screen. Submit, and your store sits pending while we verify it.
Once your CIPC number and bank details check out, your store is approved, verified, and goes live — you'll get an email the moment that happens. From then on, logging in takes you straight to your dashboard.
Your dashboard shows a setup checklist for anything still missing. Head to Settings to upload a logo, add a short "meet the seller" story shown on your store page, set your returns policy, and double-check your payment methods and delivery coverage.
Add a product with its name, category, price, an optional "compare at" price, condition, stock quantity and a photo (we automatically resize and compress whatever you upload). You can add more photos and choose a primary image afterwards from Products → Images.
Got a whole catalogue to list? Go to
Bulk upload and download
the CSV template first — it's pre-filled with the exact columns we expect
(name, price, stock_quantity required;
category, compare_at_price, condition optional). Fill in your rows
and upload the file. Each row is checked individually — a typo in one row (a bad
price, a missing name) just skips that row with a clear reason, it won't block
the rest of your file from importing.
Listings you haven't confirmed in a while quietly lose search visibility after 30 days, and disappear from search entirely after 60. Your Products page flags anything that needs a freshness check — select them and confirm in bulk to reset the clock.
New orders appear in Orders (sortable by date, status or total, and exportable to CSV for your own records). Open an order to update its status; when you mark it "Shipped", assign one of the couriers covering your delivery areas so the buyer can see who's handling their parcel.
Messages holds your chat threads with buyers on existing orders. Leads holds pre-purchase questions from people who haven't ordered yet — reply right there in the app (it sends a real email, no need for a desktop mail client) and mark each one responded or closed as you work through them.
Revenue shows total revenue (recognised once an order is delivered, not just placed), this month's total, pending revenue still in flight, and a 7-day daily breakdown.
Buyers leave reviews after delivery, and your store's rating updates immediately from those real reviews. Hit enough completed orders with a strong rating and low cancellation rate, and your store is automatically upgraded to Premium or Top Rated — we'll email you the moment it happens, same as your very first completed order.
Bank details you enter are encrypted, and any change to them is logged. From your profile you can also turn on two-factor authentication — we'll always email you if we see a login from an unfamiliar device.
Register and choose "Courier company" — you'll be taken straight into courier registration afterwards.
Give us your company name, contact details, website and a short description of what you cover (same-day, bulky items, specific areas) and tick the delivery areas you actually serve. Submit, and your listing sits pending until approved.
We'll email you the moment your listing is approved. From then on you appear in the public courier directory and as a recommended courier to sellers whose delivery areas match yours.
In Settings, add a logo, double-check your contact details and description, and keep your coverage areas accurate — sellers can only assign you to orders in areas you've ticked.
When a seller marks an order "Shipped", they choose a courier covering that delivery area — that's you, if you're approved and your coverage matches. The buyer can then see your company name on their order page.
Your dashboard lists every parcel assigned to you that isn't delivered yet — order number, store, buyer and address. Mark Confirm collected once you've picked it up, and Mark delivered once it's dropped off. Marking delivered also updates the seller's revenue and order history automatically — nothing further for you to do.
